Guarantee & piano care

Warranty and care notes

At Roberts Pianos Houston, we want the pianos we sell to bring joy to the homes, families, churches, schools, and musicians they go to. We prepare our pianos carefully, and if a genuine mechanical problem arises during the guarantee period, our aim is to help and to serve you well.

Because pianos are wooden, mechanical instruments, the guarantee depends on normal care, suitable humidity, and regular tuning.

Unless stated otherwise in writing, prepared Roberts Pianos Houston instruments include the guarantee shown above against mechanical defects from delivery or collection. Where an optional dehumidifier or humidity-control system is purchased with the piano and used appropriately, the guarantee may be extended to 5 years if confirmed in writing at the time of sale.

What is covered

Parts and labor are covered during the warranty period for mechanical defects that arise under normal home use, provided the piano has been properly cared for.

Examples may include sticking keys, faulty action parts, loose strings, loose tuning pins where Roberts Pianos Houston confirms this is due to a covered mechanical defect, or other mechanical faults confirmed by Roberts Pianos Houston.

Looking after your piano

  • Keep the piano on an inside wall where possible.
  • Keep it away from direct sunlight, fireplaces, vents, water, and extreme temperature changes.
  • Protect it from excessive humidity, dryness, pests, pets, and especially pet urine.
  • Tune the piano approximately once a year.
  • While under guarantee, please use Roberts Pianos Houston or a piano tuner approved or recommended by Roberts Pianos Houston.

Tuning and humidity

Tuning is normal maintenance for an acoustic piano. A piano may need tuning after delivery, seasonal changes, or settling into a new home. Tuning itself is not normally a warranty repair, but if a genuine mechanical issue is found during tuning, please contact Roberts Pianos Houston so we can advise.

In Houston and other humid climates, room humidity should be kept below 65% where possible. Good humidity control helps protect the soundboard, pinblock, action, keys, strings, and overall tuning stability.

If there is a problem

Please contact Roberts Pianos Houston promptly before arranging outside repair work. This helps us understand the issue, decide whether it is covered, and recommend the right next step.

Where a covered issue cannot reasonably be repaired, or where repair would not be proportionate, Roberts Pianos Houston may provide a reasonably similar pre-owned piano at our discretion during the guarantee period.

Practical limits and exclusions

Some issues are part of normal piano ownership rather than warranty faults — for example seasonal tuning changes, ordinary wear, cosmetic aging, changes caused by humidity or movement, or changes in tone or touch preference.

  • Pianos sold as-is or supplied as donation pianos may have different terms unless separate written terms are provided.
  • Damage caused by moving, storage, misuse, neglect, water, pests, pets, pet urine, children, accidents, or unsuitable environmental conditions is not covered.
  • Work carried out by another technician, restorer, mover, or third party is not covered unless Roberts Pianos Houston approved that work in writing.
  • Cosmetic wear, fading, cabinet marks, finish changes, ordinary aging, and normal wear from unusually heavy or institutional use are not covered unless separate written terms are provided.

The guarantee applies to the original buyer only and is not transferable unless Roberts Pianos Houston agrees in writing. Some sales may have customized guarantee terms confirmed in writing by Roberts Pianos Houston.

Customer Review

"We had a great experience purchasing our piano. I appreciated the transparency in pricing both online and in the showroom. I never felt like I was dealing with a salesman, but with someone who genuinely cared about finding the right instrument."
