Our Story

I grew up in a home where the piano was part of everyday life. My father played, and classical music was usually on during long drives. Over time, that familiarity became a foundation for how I understand instruments and the people who play them.

As kids, my brothers and I spent time around pianos - cleaning keys, polishing brass, and later learning to tune and voice pianos for customers.

I've taught piano to friends and enjoy sharing music with people who understand its value and the work it takes to master.

My musical training comes from church music, plus I have a Master's and Bachelor's degree in music.

We love everything about pianos - the history, the parts, the sound. The videos below show how and why I do this work.

Family legacy

David Roberts, my great‑grandfather, is the first in our family we know of who tuned pianos. He also tuned organs.

Before that, he composed at the piano and played the organ for silent films, providing live accompaniment in cinemas until recorded sound arrived and his work at the console quietly ended. When sound-on-film took over, he began cycling from house to house, tuning pianos and organs instead.

For a time he lived on a houseboat, which gives our story an unusual link to the present: my brother Richard Roberts now tunes pianos in France and also lives on a houseboat. The details of the work have changed, but the pattern of making a life around instruments has stayed remarkably similar.
